Your Health - Your Body
By Magreth Mcgill of Megs Health
Your body is your own. No one knows it like you do! There are some good "Common Sense" rules to follow when it comes to Health. A good relationship is necessary between you and your Medical Practitioner. If you can't talk to your Medical Practitioner about what concerns you about your health, the Medical Practitioner can't treat you. Likewise the Medical Practitioner must understand that his/her patient is not a number or a colour coded file. The humanity must be there, care and concern for your patient is a must. We all know that Medical Practitioners have busy schedules and see a lot of patients during there day, but who can afford to go to the doctor for a friendly chat? So, words of advice for the Medical Practitioner... treat the person not just the symptoms. I lost faith in traditional medicine a long time ago. I looked towards natural and alternative medicine. Holistic rather that symptomatic. Natural rather than synthetic. Medicine, whichever kind you believe in is a process of elimination. That is what doctors do and that is something as you become more in touch with your body you can do which in turn will help the Medical Practitioner do their job. Think about it... the Medical Practitioner prescribes a drug that cures one thing but leaves the rest of your body in tatters. (whether that is obvious from day one is to be seen, sometimes the problems take years to show). An example; It is like taking a pain killer for a common headache. You cure the headache but, what are you doing to your kidneys? Truth be known, the headache was probably caused because your body was dehydrated! The act of taking a big glass of water would more than likely have taken away the headache... without the use of pills. Next time you have a headache - try the water first. I am not trying to diagnose all headaches with these statements, but if the water didn't do the trick and you really need the pill, then it is time to seek medical advice. Headaches are commonly caused by several factors. 1. Dehydration 2. Neck or spinal Injury (or just plain bad posture 3. Optical issues (i.e. you could need glasses) 4. Stress (try relaxation techniques or yoga classes) 5. Food additives (can cause Migraines) Please don't become your own doctor (even I have to see one on the odd occasion) you need to be able to help your doctor diagnose your symptoms to be able to get the right result. I would suggest that you do research and the internet is a magnificent tool for the latest updates on everything. Get to know your body. Stop the constant barrage of unhealthy lifestyle choices by way of food, alcohol abuse and stress.
